Member Types

AGC’s membership structure includes General Contractor Members, Associate Members and Affiliate Members.  Please see below for definitions of each of these categories.

General Contractor Members
A General Contractor Member includes construction manager or functionally equivalent company that regularly assumes the overall risk and responsibility for the construction of an entire project, under a prime contract with a property owner, tenant, concessionaire or similar person, firm, government agency or other entity.

Associate Members (Specialty Contractors)
A Specialty Contractor is a construction company that regularly assumes the risk and responsibility for the construction of part but not all of a project, typically but not necessarily under a subcontract with a prime contractor or another Specialty Contractor.

Affiliate Members (Suppliers and Service Providers)
A Supplier is any company that provides construction materials, manufactured products, construction equipment or other goods to General Contractors Members or Associate Members.

A Service Provider is any company that provides business services to General Contractor Members or Associate Members, and the term includes architects, engineers, other design professionals, and construction managers not at risk.
