East Ridge High School Future Ready Institute of Building and Design Celebrates Year-Long Problem Based Project
Our Chapter's partner school hosted an event to celebrate the final phase of their year-long problem-based learning project. Students picked habitat enhancement in and around the Camp Jordan area as their focus. On May 7, students placed duck boxes and bat boxes of their own design and construction in the area surrounding Camp Jordan. In addition to placement of habitat enhancement students participated in the 1st Annual Construction Olympics.
The AGC of East Tennessee’s mission is to lead and improve the professional construction industry with Skill, Integrity and Responsibility. This mission lead to the creation of The AGC of East Tennessee Scholarship program.
This scholarship provides assistance to students pursuing a degree in construction or a construction-related program at a non-proprietary, technical, community or four-year college or university. If awarded, this scholarship will range from $500-$3,000 per academic year, depending on your course schedule, grades and other factors. The final determination of the award amount is at the sole discretion of the Community Foundation of Greater Chattanooga, Inc.
The Tennessee College of Applied Technology is anticipating the addition of a $17 million technical building within the next few years — a project school officials say is needed to meet the demand for skilled industrial and building trade workers in the area.
