Reports To: CEO of AGC East Tennessee

WHO WE ARE: The Associated General Contractors East Tennessee (AGCETN) is a trade association for the commercial construction industry that provides a variety of services for its members with a particular focus on workforce development and growth. Based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, AGCETN is supported by 230 member companies across 22 counties in southeast Tennessee that employ more than 6,000 employees in construction, and is a part of a national network of 26,000 construction companies. Our mission is to build the foundation for the next generation in construction.
THE CONSTRUCTION CAREER CENTER: AGCETN has led an initiative to launch a 28,000-sf vocational school for the construction trades in Chattanooga, called the Construction Career Center (CCC). The CCC will open in August 2022 and house a new construction vocational program for 11th and 12th grade students in Hamilton County Schools, a construction certification program for Tennessee College for Applied Technology (TCAT), and AGCETN’s continuing education program for professionals in the construction industry.
THE POSITION: AGCETN is seeking a Workforce Director to be housed at the Construction Career Center to lead job placement and career guidance initiatives for students, as well as and other AGCETN initiatives to build and strengthen the construction workforce pool.
The Workforce Director will implement a variety of workforce development initiatives at the CCC, including:
The selected candidate must have an ability to work with a variety of audiences and serve as a bridge between students, educators, employers, funding partners, and community leaders. We are looking for an enthusiastic responsible professional and self-starter with top-notch creative skills, along with an outgoing, friendly personality and a willingness to work with a diverse group of personalities. The selected candidate will be an employee of AGCETN and report to the CEO of AGCETN.

- job placement for students in work-based learning programs and full-time employment upon graduation with AGC members and other construction companies;
- creative educational programming to supplement curriculum,
- events designed to increase awareness of construction careers,
- curriculum evaluation, and
- marketing support for student recruitment.

Specific Responsibilities:
- Identify and implement current and new AGCETN initiatives to build and strengthen the regional construction industry workforce
- Coordinate work-based learning opportunities and internships for students at the Construction Career Center with AGCETN members and other regional construction companies
- Populate a website with construction job openings in the region
- Maintain a database of student placement and monitor progress of placement
- Produce industry-events for students at the Construction Career Center, including but not limited to, career fairs, assemblies with industry leaders, technology demonstrations, mentorships, signing days, jobsite visits, and more
- Program and schedule continuing education opportunities and safety training for AGCETN members and other professionals in construction
- Provide assistance on marketing and recruitment initiatives for the Construction Career Center
- Oversee facility maintenance issues for the Construction Career Center
- Oversee NCCER certification program requirements
- Perform special projects as assigned by the CEO of AGC East Tennessee
Skills Needed:
- Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required
- Ability to learn membership management software and other programs as needed
- Experience in working with a diverse audience in terms of ages, backgrounds, and ethnicities
- An energetic, personable strategic thinker and multi-tasker
- A willingness to think outside-of-the-box and to take on additional assignments relative to AGCETN
Required Experience:
- 5+ years’ experience in the regional construction industry preferred
- Knowledge of MS Office or Google Workspace
- WordPress or similar website platform experience
- Ability to post on a variety of social media platforms
