Ensuring continued growth of a skilled workforce is critical for our industry. For every five people who leave the trades, only one replacement is supplied by apprenticeship programs. That’s why ACG of East Tennessee has made it a priority to invest in and support construction and trade programs at local colleges and high schools.
College Outreach
AGC of East Tennessee has helped fund and launch Construction Management programs at University of Tennessee Chattanooga (UTC) and Chattanooga State, opening new doors for students who otherwise might not think of a career in construction. At Chattanooga State, we funded the construction of an impressive new Construction Lab, providing students with a state-of-the-art facility for hands on learning and instruction.
AGC of East Tennessee supports students interested in pursuing career in construction by providing scholarships and mentorship to students who are members of the AGC Student Chapters.
Vocational Outreach
At the high school level, we oversee the National Center for Construction Education & Research (NCCER) training for more than 12 high schools and 600 students across East Tennessee.
Futures Ready Institute Partner:
Building and Design Institute at East Ridge High School
AGC of East Tennessee will be the official partner of the new Building and Design Institute at East Ridge High School in Chattanooga. Through our partnership, AGC helps teachers and faculty build curriculum around the business of construction for students with aptitude in the field. Throughout the year, members offer student mentoring, teacher externships, in-class teaching, and guidance on how to build a business in construction.
