Our goal is to help our members be competitive and successful while making a relevant impact in our industry and community.  We provide members with support through advocacy, connections, training, education, business services, industry and legislative updates, discounts, and other tools to help grow and support your business and workers.

Advocacy and Policy

 With thousands of professionals in our membership, we serve as the unified voice of the construction industry in East Tennessee, leading advocacy efforts focused on ensuring continued growth in our industry by supporting laws favorable to business security and the safety of our workforce.   AGC East Tennessee serves as the primary watchdog for legislative issues relative to construction on the local level and  works with other AGC of Tennessee and peer organizations on the state level.  AGC East Tennessee is represented on:

Construction Career Center

To help build our regional workforce, AGC East Tennessee led the charge to open a 30,000-sf state-of-the-art vocational school for the construction trades in Chattanooga.  In partnership with Hamilton County Schools and Chattanooga State Community College, the school will train 160 high school students and 40 adult learners each year.  AGC’s Workforce Director at the school will work to place each graduating student with an AGC member in a full-time position.  The Center also serves as the hub for professionals in the building industry, offering meeting spaces to groups like the Homebuilders Association, AIA, ACE Mentorship, Masonry Institute, and others.   >> Click here to learn more

Workforce Development

We know that our workforce is our industry’s most important asset, and will continue to be a challenge to build.  We work with school systems and community groups to enlighten students at a young age about careers in construction.  AGC East Tennessee serves as the master trainer for instructors in high school and community colleges teaching construction curriculum (NCCER), and offer scholarships and guidance to college students on construction management or related degree.  We lead the efforts to market construction careers and to connect candidates with the right training, education and jobs to become a part of our workforce.  >> Click here to learn more

Continuing Education for Professionals

AGC is the best place to find educational programs to enhance job performance in the construction industry.  Through AGC University, we offer a robust menu of continuing education courses can help everyone on your team with sessions on Supervisory Skills, Project Management, Construction Leadership, Building Information Modeling (BIM), Blueprint Reading, Estimating, LEAN Construction, and more.  We also offer lunch and learns with industry experts for quick, informational sessions, as well as regional and national conferences for more in-depth dives.  Learn more
